The Birth Story of Levi

To those that have followed our journey from the start, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your continued prayers and messages expressing the love and support you have for my family is greatly appreciated. As many of you know Hudson’s birth story was not your typical one. With twists and turns it felt like something out of a movie. This pregnancy also had its ups and downs, but through it all, a healthy baby boy could not wait to meet us. This is the birth story of Levi. We had a planned C-section scheduled as this was the best option for Levi and I. At 32 weeks, Levi almost decided to make an appearance, and I had to stay in hospital for 24 hours. Luckily the contractions were stopped using medication and I was fortunate enough to carry this little guy until 38 weeks and 2 days.

On the morning of 26 September, around 2:30 am I woke up with sharp pains. We had to book in at the hospital at 06:00 the morning, but the sharp pains felt like contractions and I wanted to get to the hospital as fast as we could. We got ready and we drove to my Dad’s place to drop Hudson off at and then rushed to the hospital. I am not sure how fast hubby drove, but we got there in what felt like minutes. At this time, I couldn’t walk and they had to get a wheel chair for me and I was wheeled off to the maternity ward. I think I was calm, because I knew this was the day, and also that I was in the best place I could be. I was hooked up to a monitor and the nurse called my gynae. After an internal exam (freaking eina!) I was given an injection and I was able to snooze a little. Our Birth Photographer arrived around 07:00 and I was wheeled off to theater around 07:30. I remember a wave of emotions hitting me as they wheeled me off. It is such a blessing to have been able to carry life inside of me and the moment that we have been waiting for to meet him was upon us. I am so thankful to Nouvelle Vie Birth Photography for capturing our Birth Story. Unlike other shoots where you are told to pose or look a certain direction, I did not once notice our photographer in the room. I did not even hear her. She captured the raw and real moments and for that, I will forever be grateful. She captured many first for us, but the most special was when Hubby was able to kangaroo Levi. This was something he never experienced with Hudson and it shows in the emotions she captured of him that day. Another first for me was actually having the baby next to me and capturing the first moments of breastfeeding. I can not help but relive every precious moment while looking at these photos. Get those tissues ready as you go through our photos.

If there is one thing you should definitely consider, then it is to have a birth photographer at your side. Click here to read the blog post I shared with Nouvelle Vie Birth Photography.

And so our adventure of 4 begins….
