I was quite anxious at the thought of breastfeeding while I was pregnant with Levi. My biggest concern was “Would I have enough milk”. Now if you read Hudson’s birth story, you will remember how I struggled with my milk supply. My gynaecologist was very weary, but eventually put me on Eglonyl to increase my supply. He only prescribed a month’s supply and at the time, I did not know much about this drug. Yes, it will increase your milk supply, but not a lot of research has been done on what the side effects are on using this drug. My gynaecologist went through everything with me, and suggested another drug that he is more comfortable with, but it would cost R2000 for a months supply. I decided to power pump instead. Two years ago, I do not recall any brand like Yummy Mummy Lifestyle. So when I came across it on Instagram, of course I went and did my research. I chatted about the Collagen Protein Shake from Yummy Mummy Lifestyle before, which you can read about here.

I only started pumping two weeks after Levi was born. Each session is 20 minutes long and I pump 10 minutes a side. My left breast definitely produces more milk and pump about 150 ml -200ml in ten minutes and I get about 100-120ml from my right breast. I try and pump at least 2-3 times a day, to build up my stash.
