A few weeks ago I was invited to the opening of the Magnolia Social Dining Lounge at Erinvale Estate Hotel and Spa. Adding a third restaurant offering to this prestigious property. With bespoke custom-made pieces and soft ambient lighting, Interior Designer, Clinton Savage, has created an interior that promises to offer diners a visual sensory delight. The newly designed restaurant aims to add an innovative, modern and interactive touch to Chef Stefan Bekker’s exciting culinary combinations.

Clinton Savage worked closely with architect, Arnold Shewan and Landscaper, Alan Dawson to ensure a functional flow for guests by blending the creative with the historic buildings and the natural environment. Emerald green and burnt orange are the focal palettes of the interior, and combined with the bespoke lighting and hexagonal brass fittings they work together resulting in an informal social dining club – a beautifully redesigned space with a bold and unique identity.

Inspired by the Epicurus quote: “We should look for someone to eat and drink with before looking for something to eat and drink”, the idea of Magnolia Social Dining Lounge was to revolutionise dining by creating a comfortable and inviting space for diners to interact with others.

Chef Stefan Bekker believes that food should be an experience that is remembered – more than just a simple wholesome meal. Stefan and his team have carefully conceptualised an innovative small plated menu offering dishes including dressed oysters, camembert fondues, beef fillet and prawn risotto – a varied menu combing modern food with the comfort of old-world flavours.
