Break away to drink, dine and discover Sauvignon blanc wines at one of the Cape’s most exciting destinations – Cape Town’s northern vineyard at Durbanville, just 20 minutes from the CBD. The cool, two ocean-influenced climate of the Durbanville Wine Valley is ideal for the slow and flavourful development of wine grapes, particularly Sauvignon blanc. It is for this reason that Durbanville is one of oldest and most favoured wine regions at the Cape, consistently taking top international honours for Sauvignon blanc in particular.
On May 5, from 17:30 to 20:00, a Sauvignon Soiree at Groot Phesantekraal features winemaker-hosted tastings of Sauvignon blanc wines from the valley. Tickets are R400pp and include tasting and canapes. The participating wineries include Groot Phesantekraal, Diemersdal, Altydgedacht, Maastricht, Klein Roosboom and Meerendal. The region’s Sauvignon blanc wines are also available for tasting along with a two-course dinner on May 6, from 17:30 to 22:00, at Durbanville Hills. Tickets are R450pp. The participating wineries include Durbanville Hills, Canto, De Grendel, D’Aria, Bloemendal, Nitida and Signal Gun.
There will be wine sales at both while tickets for the events are available for purchase from the respective host wineries.
