I love a brand name that instantly intrigues me and makes me want to know more. A few weeks ago, I stumbled upon the brand Moogoo South Africa  The range that I wanted to know more about was the hair  and scalp care range. The Moogoo product I was most excited about trying was the protein shot leave in conditioner. After returning back from Burundi, I found my hair to be very dry and brittle and I wanted to stay away from heat. My go to look, a wash and go look. Before I tell you more about the hair and scalp care range, let me share some background about Moogoo.

The story of Moogoo started on a dairy farm in Perth back in 2005. The founder, Craig Jones noticed that his mum was using a white paste, intended for use on cows, to help manage a skin problem. The cream was formulated to help keep the skin on cow’s udders in good condition for milking, and although it worked, it was thick and hard to apply. Craig took on the task of reformulating it to be lighter and non-greasy to help  his mum out. The name “Udder Cream” was a bit crass for a lady, so they referred to it lovingly as Moo-Goo, (goo for the cows) and the name stuck. Starting a skin care company wasn’t the initial idea, but eventually friends and family found out about it, tried it and kept asking for more. Moogoo’s Philosophy is:

The products

One of the first question I got was ” Is the Moogoo hair products, scalp friendly? The answer is yes. Moogoo’s Scalp Friendly Milk Shampoo has  become one of their most popular products. Moogoo uses natural ingredients combined with ingredients to control the micro-flora of the scalp that can cause scalp problems for many adults and children. The product is pH balanced and contains Natural Cleansers. The bottle size is 500ml and it retails for R199.00.

Moogoo’s Scalp Friendly Cream Conditioner uses only natural ingredients to moisturise the hair. It does not contain silicones. It also has ingredients to control the flora of the scalp that sometimes causes scalp problems for people. What I loved about using both products was that it did not have an overwhelming scent. Both products are easy to apply, and I loved how clean, fresh and healthy both my hair and scalp felt after using it.

After washing my hair I apply the Protein shot. A little goes a long way. My hair does not feel greasy after applying it at all. The reason for that is that Moogoo’s products do not contain silicone, but only nourishing oils. Oils like Coconut and Jojoba Oil ensures no build up. Moogoo uses olive oil because it is a great oil for dry hair. Milk Protein to help prevent split ends and they also add Panthenol and Natural Vitamin E.

It is very common for older people and babies, to experience the following: skin that becomes red, dry and sometimes itchy around the scalp, hairline, neck, ears, eye areas, and along the side of the nose and mouth. According to research these are oily areas of the skin and sometimes yeast on the skin can become more prevalent and cause irritation.

This version of our moisturising cream helps return the skin to a healthy condition. Like all our creams, it is safe and non-irritating and can be used anywhere on the body. MooGoo Scalp Cream can also be used as a general moisturiser.

I have been using the scalp cream as a moisturizer and it works beautifully. I often suffer from skin irritation after shaving my under arm area, and have never found a product to help relief the irritation the first few days after a shave. Until, I started using the skin milk undercream. It easily nourishes my skin and is non-greasy. Added milk protein helps keep the skin supple and elastic.
