Spur Steak Ranches has been around for years. It is the place you go to, to get the best burgers, ribs, chicken and milk shakes. With the current Pandemic and the Alcohol ban being lifted, our restaurants are able to get back on their feet again, but it has not been an easy road. With a lot of these restaurants being closed for so many months, many jobs were lost. Restaurants are also only open to the public if they follow the right health and safety protocols. If this was one of your fears for not frequenting your favourite steak house, then you definitely will not have anything to be concerned about when you visit Navaho Spur
We were greeted by a young gentleman outside the restaurant, where he took our temperatures and then sanitised our hands and the pen and we filled in a form with our details. A waitress escorted us into the restaurant and the fist thing I noticed was the open spaces with the following sign.
I was very impressed with our Waiter, Blessing. He was kitted out in a shield and mask, and also sanitized his hands in front of us. He also showed me what the black tape was for. He is not allowed to go over the black tape when serving. Another precaution that the restaurant has taken in terms of their health and safety protocol.
For starters, Daniel had crumbed mushrooms (they had definitely improved the recipe with regards to their coating. It was delicious. I ordered the Cheesy Garlic Prawns prawn tails smothered in a creamy garlic and cheese sauce, served with garlic toast. I would have this again! If you are a cheese lover like myself, then this is definitely for you.
For mains I had the Avo & Roquefort Steak 300g Sirloin topped with fresh avocado and Roquefort Dressing.
Daniel had the Ribs & Buffalo Wings
Marinated pork ribs (400g) with Durky wings. Served with chips and onion rings.
You can not leave the Spur without having some dessert. I chose the Peppermint Tart with Ice cream. It was a half portion and it was huge!
I had a chat with one of the managers and asked him about their experience dealing with a Pandemic. Unfortunately they had to let one of their managers go as well as some of their waiting staff. They just could not afford it. They are hoping that things will pick up, but understandably, they have to keep to their Safety protocols and are limited with regards to how many patrons can be served in the restaurant. We made sure that we gave the waiter a descent tip, which he was very grateful for. Not only was his service amazing, but you could see that he was happy to be back at work. I give Navaho Spur a definite 5 star rating. To adapt to our new normal is not easy, but they are doing their bit in keeping jobs thriving and most importantly keeping you the patron safe during this Pandemic.
