A play date at Wonderdal

You are currently viewing A play date at Wonderdal

With life going back to normal again, our kids get to have play dates with their friends again. The social aspect of interaction is what I think most of our kids longed for in these two past years of not knowing what tomorrow will bring. A play date at Wonderdal was just what Hudson and his friend needed, and can I add, us Moms as well. Wonderdal is located on the beautiful estate of Hazendal Destination Wine Farm . You can truly make a day out of it, with both parents and kids having an amazing day! I share a bit more about our day below:

What is Wonderdal?

Wonderdal is an interactive centre for kids aged 5-13 years old. Levi is at the age where he wants to do everything his brother does and he is only turning 3 next month and was too young to go on the playdate. I suggest if you have siblings in the ages likes Levi and Hudson, rather leave the youngest at home, to avoid any tantrums. Although there is a smaller play area suitable for the younger ones, close to the Deli, and a lot of space to run around on the beautiful surrounding lawns.

Wonderdal offers an immersive and interactive edutainment experience, blending creative design, award-winning educational resources and world-class technology, to combine learning with play. At Wonderdal children aged 5-13 can discover the worlds of science, nutrition and nature across a variety of indoor and outdoor activity zones. With the colourful Amuki characters by their side, and trained WonderPals to supervise, young adventurers can look forward to a fun day out discovering a world of wonder and knowledge.

The safety socks really come in handy as you can use them for the next visits. I suggest to book your time slots online. What I loved about the booking process is that it was so easy, and user-friendly. Just to be on the safe side and to check their response time, I also emailed to confirm our slots. I received a response on the same day that confirmed our time slot. I suggest that you arrive about 10-15 minutes before your time slot starts, as you need to check in your child, and change socks to get them ready for the ultimate adventure.

The above are some photos of the outdoor play area. This is honestly a child’s dream play ground. As I said before the kids are all supervised, so you as a parent can have some peace of mind. I appreciate all the thought that went into building these different play areas, as the kids get to not only practice their motor skills, but also their critical thinking skills to solving problems.

At one point Hudson told me that this is a magical place. Just to see the joy on his face and how it lit up with every activity he did, made me so happy. There are different corners to explore, so there is literally never a dull moment.

This was the first time that Hudson had this experience so I wanted to be around just so that he could settle in by himself and also to feel comfortable with the attendees. After about 20 minutes I told him that I would be leaving to have some coffee with my friend and that he has more than one hour left to play and to have lots of fun. I left feeling at ease, knowing that I am close by. When it came to the time of picking Hudson and his friend up, Hudson beamed and did not want to go. As a parent, you also received a code that you have to give when you pick up your child. This was another safety measure that I appreciated as a parent. Hudson learned so much and just wanted to know when we would be going back. Wonderdal is truly an experience and I highly recommend it.
